- Condition: The leather carrying strap has broken and needs replacing. There are scratches and dings throughout the horn especially on the bottom board where it has been chewed by insects in some spots (see photo). The rubber bellows inside the box has been affected and will not make the desired horn sound. Please see the photos to have a better idea of the condition of this vintage nautical fog horn.The top corner was rubbed and a certain amount of wood was eroded in the process (see photos).

It is truly “One of a Kind”. When did you last see one like this? You haven’t because they are very RARE!!!
This one shows some wear and tear over the years. I tried to make it work but the bellow inside the box must have a hole allowing the air to escape before it would go through the sound section of the horn. Maybe you can fix it! It was supposed to be working just until about 2 months ago. It’s a relatively easy/simple design so it wouldn’t seem to be all that hard to repair. Please see the photos of the horn inside and outside. There’s quite a bit of
copper
in the construction of this device. It measures 18 1/2″ long x 9″ deep x 12 3/8″ tall and the fog horn weighs about 18 pounds which affects the shipping and handling expense some.
This was probably placed in a life boat as the ship had a much larger fog horn than this.
